Diving in Gran Canaria<br>
Nearly all the marine life the Atlantic Ocean has to offer can be found in Gran Canaria. This is because Gran Canaria and the Canary Islands as a whole, forms a huge reef that naturally attracts the marine life.<br>
You can find all kinds of marine creatures from tiny fish to enormous stingrays. You can see octopus, barracudas and moray eel near the coast, or you can try some great boat diving, with wrecks up to 100 metres long and more.<br>

An excellent site for night dives. When the sun sets, the big fish, like angel sharks, stingrays and sometimes even mantas, come out hunting. With a bit of luck, you might see a special kind of ray, known locally as a butterfly manta, which can have a wingspan of over 2 metres. <br>
Between 0.5 m and 12 m, you can find a wide range of different octopus and squid species. <br>
A perfect place for making videos and taking photographs of these harmless creatures. Diving conditions are usually very good, with visibility up to 30 m.<br>
The most famous beach in Las Palmas and the cradle of tourism. You have to go by boat to reach the dive sites, over the huge drop-offs that plunge down to 65 metres <br>
It's a very special feeling to dive on the walls off Las Canteras. When you are neutrally buoyant at 15 metres and you can see the bottom 50 metres below, it’s the nearest you’ll ever get to flying.<br>
You need to be experienced to dive here. You can find all kinds of marine life here, but the rarest species is the lobster.<br>
Las Palmas, the second largest port in Europe, is a nerve centre for shipping and trade between America, Africa and Europe. A countless numbers of ships have sunk, or been sunk, outside the harbour of Las Palmas over the last couple of hundred years. <br>
On our wreck dives, we can choose from a large variety of different wrecks that are perfect for our purpose: to discover sunken ships and their history. Our experienced underwater guides can tell us all about the history of the wrecks, the marine life that usually inhabits them and help you penetrate the wrecks in complete safety.<br>
One of the wrecks we often visit, the Kalais, is a Greek cargo ship that sunk in 1968 fully laden. She is 128 meters long and lies at a depth of between 18 and 38 meters. Around the wrecks we can see big schools of fish like tuna, trigger fish and barracuda.<br>
The most famous dive sites in the whole Canary Islands. A protected area covering 10 km of the coastline, like an underwater nature park, where you can find almost everything that lives in the Atlantic Ocean. <br>
There are dive sites here for everyone, from beginners to the most experienced divers. From 0 - 33 meters you will discover the successive ecological layers, with everything from small Puffers to big Groupers and hard and soft coral. This is an amazing place, where you can dive over and over again and still find something new. Moray eels, Stingrays and Barracudas hunt here on the huge schools of fish that inhabit the reef.<br>
Our outstanding dive site for Discover Scuba and Open Water courses, situated to the south, but inside, the Cabron natural reserve. The area is normally sheltered from wind and waves, and reaches a maximum depth of 10 metres.<br>
It is like diving in an aquarium here, you will find as many fish as in Cabron, but smaller, as this is a nursery. You can find sea horses, small stingrays, octopus and squid, trumpet fish, parrot fish and loads of other species.<br>
This is also a perfect place for underwater navigation exercises, or for a scuba review if you haven’t dived for a while.<br>
Outside Pasito Blanco, a yacht marina not far from Playa del Ingles, we have two sites for boat dives; one is an artificial reef and the other a natural reef. <br>
The artificial reef was constructed by the Marine Biology Department of the University of Las Palmas. It is built of blocks and tubes and it’s a great place for small marine life to seek shelter, making it a good hunting ground for barracuda, tuna and electric rays.<br>
Further south is the natural reef, which shelters stingrays, Moray eels, trumpet fish and several big schools of different fishes.<br>
Arguineguin is a excellent dive site for beginners, or for when the weather makes entry / exit difficult at other dive sites, because we use a ladder outside a beautiful hotel as an entry / exit point. The dive site is also very easy to reach by car, as you can park just a few metres from the entry point. This makes it an ideal place for our non-diving customers to join us for some good snorkelling and sunbathing.<br>
To reach the dive sites off Mogan, we go by boat from Pasito Blanco. The two main dive sites we visit are "the Mogan caves " and " the Mogan wreck". <br>
The two caves are really one, with two openings at a depth of about 15 meters. In the cave, you usually find big stingrays and other species of marine life that live in the shelter of darkness. The wreck is a fishing boat that was deliberately sunk to attract fish for tourists to see on an excursion by submarine from Mogan.<br>
We try to time our dive so that we can see the submarine as well as the sunken fishing boat. Apart from the two boats there is also a great variety of marine life for us to observe.<br>
Gran Canaria has almost all the marine life that the Atlantic Ocean has to offer. This is because Gran Canaria together with the other Canary Islands, forms a reef that naturally attracts the marine life. You can find all kinds of marine creatures, from the smallest fish to stingrays or sea bass. You can see octopus, barracudas and moray eel near the coast. <br>
You can also try some great boat diving with wrecks up to 100 metres long. There is something for every level of rating, from beginners to dedicated specialists.<br>

Discover Scuba Diving” is a one-day adventure requiring no previous diving experience. You do not get a licence, but it's a unique opportunity for you to try diving and enjoy yourself.<br>
This course takes all day, starting with a video and some general dive theory. Then we jump into the pool and practice some basic exercises. When everybody feels confident, we go out to the ocean to dive on a reef with lots of fish and interesting marine life to see. <br>
This is without any doubt, a great opportunity for those who enjoy underwater films and documentaries to discover and explore our weightless world. <br>
Scuba Diver” is a course that teaches you the basics of diving, enabling you to dive under the supervision of a professional diver whenever you like.<br>
The “Open Water Diver” is a beginners` course, in which you learn the skills you need for scuba diving, and it allows you to dive without professional supervision. After completing the course you will receive an international dive certificate that allows you to dive all over the world.<br>
The PADI “Advanced Open Water Diver” is a course for certified divers that teaches you some more advanced diving skills, and how to become a better diver.<br>
Deep dive:<br>
Under the close supervision of an instructor, you will get to know how it feels to dive to around 30 m.<br>
Navigation dive:<br>
You learn to navigate under water, both with a compass and using natural underwater features.<br>
Night dive:<br>
You learn about the special conditions you have to deal with when diving at night, such as different signs/signals and problems with navigation and buoyancy.<br>
